Maradona, Pelé, Messi… Not only football experts and fans are familiar with these names, but the whole world – from a little boy ineptly throwing a ball into imaginary gates on a playground, to a professional athlete devoted his life to football or even those who have never been to a match on a huge stadium and haven`t cheered on the favorite team.

Football can be hardily called the most popular game in the world which has no boundaries. Whatever your age, gender, skin color, or eye shape, whatever you believe in, and whatever the religion you profess, you can always become a famous football player or a devoted fan. True fans of this dynamic game not only visit every match, but they know everything about their idols and have visited museums of their glory not once.

The museum of South American football in Luque City belongs to the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Paraguay. Its ceremonial opening took place in 2009 with the participation of two former FIFA presidents João Havelange and Sepp Blatter, and also the former CONMEBOL President Nicholas Leos. On this special day, hundreds of guests from all over the world gathered at the museum doors where such football legends as Pelé and Cafu were signing autographs.

Today, about 2000 exhibits can be seen in its halls. The collection is divided into different sectors dedicated to the continent national teams. Here you can see how the players’ uniform has been changing, get acquainted with their amazing biographies and hundreds of rare photos, and also meet the copies of all American and World Cups, won by Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. Under each trophy, you can read a short victory story and interesting moments related to this event.
