In the center of Curitiba, among the busy streets of a large city, there is a real green oasis-the Botanical Garden. It is loved by locals and tourists: it is nice to walk around the landscaped area, as well as to look into a large greenhouse, which looks like a castle. By the way, many people consider the garden the main attraction of the city: fans of vivid photos come there for the photoshoots from all over the world.

The Botanical Garden of Curitiba was opened on October 5, 1991. It covers an area of 178 thousand square meters. On this territory, there are lakes, fountains, sculptural compositions, a greenhouse, a municipal botanical museum, a bistro, a French-style garden as well as a parking lot.

What is interesting to see there? There is a collection of living plants that grow throughout Brazil; in particular, in the state of Parana (the capital of which was Curitiba). Of course, some of them can be seen on the street. However, the most unusual types are in a glass greenhouse with an area of 458 square meters. The exterior of the greenhouse was inspired by the so-called Crystal Palace in London.

The greenhouse is surrounded by a huge French-style garden with geometric flowerbeds. There are also fountains and a sculpture called "Amor Materno" by artist Juan Saco. Besides, the cultural space of Frans Kreitzberg with a permanent exhibition of his 114 sculptures is located behind the greenhouse.

There is an exhibition hall with works of art dedicated to the surrounding nature. There, you can learn more about such representatives of the Brazilian fauna as an opossum, an armadillo, a tree frog, and a blue-winged pigeon. By the way, the museum regularly hosts educational programs (also for children): lectures, seminars, conferences.

The Botanical Garden is open daily. In the warm season - from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., in other seasons - from 6 a.m. to 7.30 pm. Admission is free for everyone.
