Do you like to look at the stars? How often do you do this? When was the last time? Travelers discovering Argentina and the city of Neuquen have such a great opportunity. They can look to the stars with a large telescope (and not the only one!), get a lot of useful information, and admire the amazing Argentine Night.
And why? The city of Neuquen has an Astrological Observatory. By the way, it is the southernmost in the world and the only one in Patagonia.
It is easy to find it: come to the end of Argentina Avenue, then go up to the hill to the Square de las Banderas. After that, you need to go three hundred meters to the left, and here is Neuquen Astronomical Observatory.
You can see a lot of amazing and beautiful things here. Guides show you the Moon, the Sun, nine planets, giant stars, supergiants, large and small Magellanic clouds, nebulae, galaxies of all kinds, including ellipses and spirals, the center of our galaxy in the constellation of Sagittarius, and all the sky objects of the Southern Hemisphere. It is very interesting!
In the observatory, you can watch thematic documentaries, listen to a lecture on astronomy, astronautics, meteorology. Here are special programs for children and youth.
The Neuquen Astrological Observatory is equipped with three electronic telescopes. Their diameters are 50, 60, and 80 cm. The largest of them allow you to see less bright objects in the night sky.
As it is happening, this wonderful building appeared owing to the dedication of its founder and leader Roberto Figueroa. Since 1990, he has been offering an opportunity to look at stars and planets, nebulae and Magellanic clouds, galaxies and constellations.
Do not miss the opportunity to look at the sky – when will you have such an opportunity in everyday life?
