The traditional Spanish entertainment, bullfighting, is related to the word “corer”, which means “to run”. Bullfighting firstly appeared in Latin America and became very popular in the Epoque of the Spanish conquerors. Since then, the basic rules have remained the same. The battles with bulls took place in many countries - from Spain and Portugal to Mexico and the United States.
In the 16th century, the first bullfighting arenas were built in Mexico. Initially, they had a rectangular shape and were covered with a thick layer of sand. Barriers of two meters high protected spectators. But the bulls were hiding in the corners of the arena, and it affected the demonstration of beauty and strength. Later, all platforms were changed to round. And Mexican bullfight became more extreme. The bullfighter could fight with two bulls in the same arena.
Mexico is not the country of bullfighting, but it has a more spectacular and dangerous show. To understand and appreciate Mexican culture, you need to visit it and experience strong emotions. Come to the city of Cancun, the huge arena with the amphitheater “Plaza de Toros”.
It was first opened on December 20, 1989. One time a week, you can see the legendary bullfight. The arena has a shape of a dome, suitable for all seasons.
During the show, the first people coming to the arena are the local charro cowboys in national costumes and wide-brimmed hats - sombrero. They dance to Mexican folk music and begin the fights.
Every person can be a matador. A volunteer may put a traditional costume on and fight with a real bull. Of course, bulls are not so aggressive, and experienced toreros are always ready to help. But people have a lot of adrenaline anyway.
And finally, you can see battles of professional bullfighters with huge ferocious bulls weighing more than 500 kilograms.
