How long have you been out in the country? It always gives you energy and strength…any person needs at least sometimes, at least for a little bit, to leave the stuffy city and go to the mountains, forests, lakes…and it is better when all this is at the same time! Auyuittuq National Park is just the right place.
Its scale is amazing! You are simply speechless when you look at these snow-capped peaks of huge mountains, glaciers, or valleys dotted with heather. It is impossible to find words to express all this natural beauty to friends. You just point at the photo with your eyes full of delight.
It seems that all the wonders of the wild nature are gathered there: glaciers, fjords, ice fields. Yes, there is a lot of ice. Most of the territory is always covered with ice. Grass and flowers appear only for a short time in summer. Therefore there are not many types of plants: mostly heather, saxifrages, small birches. Plants are scarce, as are animals. But there is a high probability of meeting a polar bear or a reindeer. Lemmings, stoats, and walruses can also be found there.
The name of the park "Auyuittuq" translates from the language of the locals as "the land that never melts".
The park was established in 2001. And it was necessary to obtain consent from the local Inuit people before creating it.
Just think, 2,8 billion years! This is the age of the oldest rocks in the reserve Auyuittuq. They were formed in the Precambrian period.
Also, tourists come there for another miracle - the Northern lights! The flow of travelers never runs out, even despite the harsh natural conditions. People come to the reserve to get acquainted with the wildlife of Northern Canada and test themselves by climbing to the top of an old mountain. Auyuittuq National Park is a favorite place of mountaineers and adventure lovers.
