To get to the lower levels, you need to cross a big wooden bridge. It looks like a castle’s. Such a comparison is rather odd because the fort is relatively young. It was built at the end of the 19th century. Previously, there was another feature of the Middle Ages - the moat. A pit with water was dug along the perimeter of the complex. Now, you cannot see it. The moat was partially filled to install a magnificent fragrant garden around Fort Hamilton.

Do not stay on the bridge for a long time. The most interesting is inside. The complex was built as a defensive structure, so soldiers dug tunnels for the supply of ammunition and their movement. 

Artillery lovers find the cannons interesting. Fortunately, they have never been used.

In general, Fort Hamilton gives the impression that some actions are about to happen. For example, escaping from bandits, Lara Croft will come out and rush to these tunnels. The old walls of the fort, entwined with ivy and lianas, remind the scene in the film about the tomb raider.
