City of Space

Unusual places

There is a very interesting theme park in Toulouse. It is dedicated to the cosmos, the stars, and the universe. It is no coincidence that the City of Space (Cité de l'espace) appeared in Toulouse: it is often called the most aerospace city in France.

The park was opened in 1997 in the suburbs of Toulouse. The City of Space is very popular among the locals and tourists. After all, here they can see real models of rockets, including the legendary "Ariane", which is 55 meters high. The park also displays the Soyuz module and the Mir space station.

The City of Space hosts various themed events for both children and adults. Interactive ones are particularly popular. For example, there is a copy of the control panel installed next to the Ariane 5 rocket. Anyone can feel like a great astronaut and "launch" a rocket into space.

As a rule, visitors are also interested in the thematic exhibition called Terr@ dome, mainly because of its creative design. Everyone can learn the history of the universe and the Solar System using a 25-meter hemisphere.

In total, there are 4 floors of exhibits at the disposal of visitors. One of the exhibitions is dedicated to the weather. It provides a unique opportunity to meet an employee of the French meteorological service, who tells visitors how weather forecasts are made. The knowledge gained can be immediately put into practice by making your own forecast based on the data obtained.

Curiously, there is a separate building of the City of Space dedicated to Australia. It includes a planetarium with a huge hemispherical screen. This building also houses a modern cinema, which features films about the stars and space.

Another area of the park is specially designed for children. Little explorers can ride a rocket slide, sit at the spacecraft control panel, and even build a rocket with their own hands.

The park also has a training center where anyone can "walk" on the surface of the moon. However, the promenade time is limited to 5 minutes.

Address: Avenue Jean Gonord, 31500
