Lavender farms: the atmosphere of Provence in Moravia

COM_SCATALOG_FIELD_DESCRIPTION

There are lavender fields in the Czech Republic. Sometimes a trip to the South of the country, across the plains and hills of Moravia, turns into a real discovery. In the season of lavender blooming, purple-emerald patches of fields surprise unprepared travelers. And the prepared ones come for photo sessions, for lavender flowers and a lot of products from the fragrant plant.

One of the family lavender farms is known throughout the Czech Republic. A delightful lavender field was organized in fields near Mikulov by a resident of Moravia, who found himself in a difficult situation. Having lost the ability to walk, he started an unusual business.

Today, the village Starovičky in the Pálava wine region not only has good wine. There is an intense aroma of lavender in the area. The wind brings it from the farm of Stanislaw Bis. A few years ago, he had a favorite job as a car mechanic, but a paragliding accident turned his life upside down.

The history of the farm in Starovičky began in 2014 when more than 40 thousand lavender bushes were planted. Residents gradually came to terms with the fact that instead of grapes, traditional for this region, their neighbor decided to grow lavender. But later, many people appreciated that it is both beautiful and profitable.

However, there is a complicating factor in the lavender business. During the flowering season, many visitors come to look at the fields, sometimes up to several hundred people a day. Many people get there when they come to the Lednice-Valtice region, an area of traditional winemaking and UNESCO monuments. Trips to castles and wineries are combined with the enjoyment of unforgettable views of the amazing landscape. The hills and fields of the Pálava hills make you feel like you are either in Provence or in Tuscany. But this is a multifaceted Moravia.

Lovers of colorful impressions are already familiar with the lavender seasons. Tourists come to the farm in Starovičky (however, as well as to other similar farms in Moravia) to visit fragrant excursions, relax sessions among the "waves" of purple inflorescences, take bright photos on a lavender field.

Lavender is grown naturally there, without chemical treatment. Plants require almost manual care for high-quality flowers. And the collected twigs and inflorescences are used for the production of food (chocolate, tea, coffee additives, wine), cosmetics and decorative items for the interior.
