Hrubá Skála castle is one of the former possessions of the enterprising aristocratic family of Waldstein. The castle is located on the rocks in a forest protected area with the romantic name of Czech Paradise.

The castle on the rocks looks like a decorative Palace. The design of the castle was first medieval, then became Renaissance, and today it has romantic features in its appearance.

The Waldsteins chose this place among the forests in the XIV century. The views from the castle terraces are amazing. Before the entrance bridge to the castle, you can see the Church of St. Joseph, partially carved into the rock. Around the Rough Rock, you will find other significant places of Czech Paradise - the ruins of Trosky castle and another rock city of Waldstein. From the observation platforms, you can see the so-called "rock cities", quaint groups of Sandstone mountains: Hruboskalsko and Prachov rocks. Nearby, in the town Radvanovice, there is an amusement Park "Happy land".

One of the most popular hiking routes in the Czech Paradise starts right from the castle. It goes through Hruboskalsko with many viewing points in the forest, to the Waldstein castle and then to the observation platform on the Glavatice rock above Turnov.

On the way, you will meet the semi-cave "Adam's bed", the arboretum "Bukovina", the symbolic cemetery of mountaineers, the Mariana panorama with a view of the Hrubá Skála, the ruins of Trosky and Kozakov hill.
