Mozart is a significant figure in the history of Austria and Salzburg.
There he spent his childhood and youth. There he took his first steps in music.
The house where the musician's family moved in 1773 is located on Makartplatz. This house is sometimes also called the dance Master's house since dance lessons were held there before.
The future great composer lived with his parents in a spacious apartment on the second floor. There were frequent meetings with friends and musicians of the Mozarts. A frequent guest of the house was the famous actor and theater Director Emanuel Schikaneder.
The boy grew up in a creative environment. He was surrounded by successful people who had a direct relationship to music.
Mozart lived in a house on the Makartplatz until 1781. There he first performed serenades, symphonies, divertissements, masses, violin and piano concertos, arias, as well as a bassoon Concerto and works of Church music.
In this apartment, Mozart composed the beginning of the Opera "the Imaginary gardener" and "Idomeneo". The composer's father, Leopold, and his sister lived here until their death.
Unfortunately, in 1944, the building was hit by an American shell, and most of it was destroyed. Only the dance class remained unchanged, and the musician played his works on musical instruments.
In 1955, this part of the building was purchased by the International Mozarteum Foundation. The destroyed wing was restored and given to the Bureau of the insurance company from Italy "Assicurazioni Generali".
However, the company did not work there for long. Already in 1989, the same international Foundation bought part of the building from them, deciding to demolish the new building and recreate the house in the form in which it was when the great composer lived in it.
The exposition of the house is small but interesting. After visiting it, you can say that you have been a guest at the Mozarts.
