Bruckner concert hall, a Large, spectacular venue with unique acoustic properties, is a place worth visiting in Linz. Residents of the city, who have a special reverence for their favorite great Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, expressed their desire to build a concert hall dedicated to him in the years between the First and Second World Wars.
Anton Bruckner was the Creator of the magnificent Nine symphonies. He wrote music for the organ and also taught.
Of course, the sad events forced to postpone construction. Then the Center was built. It can rival in grandeur, perhaps, only with the Vienna Opera.
On March 23, 1974, it was inaugurated, bringing together the entire cultural elite of Europe.
Interestingly, the architects of the hall were not even Austrians, but two Finns, Kaya, and Heikki Siren, who made a lot of effort to achieve its unique acoustic properties.
The building was built in the Art Nouveau style of the 20th century. The Concert center has three concert halls named after various Austrian composers. The large has the name of Anton Bruckner, the middle room – Adalbert Stifter, and Johannes Kepler is the name of the small hall. The first hall has a capacity of 1,420 people, the second 352 and the third 150.
A classical music festival began to be held soon after the opening of the concert hall. It is organized on the initiative of conductor Herbert von Karajan. Currently, the festival is one of the most significant events in the cultural life of the whole of Austria, and participation in it is an honor for musicians all over the world. The Bruckner concert hall also hosts various cultural events and regular theater productions.
The Bruckner orchestra from Linz performs in the concert hall. There are about 200 concerts a year, 120 of which are performed by their own band. The rest is given by guest performers who regularly come there. It is considered a great honor to perform on the stage of this beautiful hall.
