This lake is the dream of any diver! It attracts thousands of tourists who want to enjoy the unique beauty and transparency of this natural wonder.
Grüner See Park is surrounded by the Hochschwab mountains. The main feature of this place is the metamorphoses that occur to it throughout the year due to water from the mountains.
From May to April, it is a beautiful park, surrounded by paths, cute bridges, and cozy shops, hidden under the shade of pines and firs. The center of the park is the crystal-clear lake Grüner which is considered one of the most transparent in the world. The air there is filled with the scent of pine needles and moisture.
The park is located at an altitude of 776 meters above sea level. Therefore, from some of the viewing platforms of the park, there are magnificent views of snow mountains and bridges over streams.
The lake is surrounded by numerous flower clearings. Magic in this place begins with the arrival of spring. Then the sun warms the tops of the Hochschwab mountains, the ice caps begin to melt, and the water rushes into the lake in streams. During this period, its level increases from 4 to 6 meters. The lake widens and floods everything that surrounds it: green meadows, flowers, trees, narrow paths, shops, and bridges.
The water cover is so clear and transparent that you can see through it the landscape and the water inhabitants of the lake, which swim calmly between the elements of the Grüner See Park.
The maximum depth of the Green Lake reaches 12 meters in spring, and the water temperature ranges from 6 to 14 degrees. However, this does not frighten divers who rush there, wanting to dive into the fabulous underwater world of the park, take unusual photos, "walk" under the water along the paths. Mesmerized by the phenomenon of this place, people forget about worldly problems and worries. Since mid-July, the lake begins to shallow, the water goes away, and the magic disappears. Grüner See becomes one of the many beautiful mountain lakes. Interestingly, the Green Lake is one of the twenty most unusual places on the planet.
