The clink of glasses, the magic of fire that turns sand into the glass – all this can be seen at the world-famous Riedel glass factory.
The Creator of this enterprise was a Bohemian glass merchant Johann Christoph Riedel. His grandson, Johann Leopold, opened the first glass factory in the middle of the 18th century. The first handmade glasses under the Riedel trademark appeared in 1890. Why the glasses? Because this company is considered the parent of the concept of producing glasses of various shapes and designs suitable for all kinds of wine.
It produces short, narrow-necked spherical glasses for port wine, with a capacity of no more than 250 ml, and spherical glasses for Burgundy wine, capable of holding an entire bottle. In theory, different shapes of glasses should direct the wine to different parts of the mouth in order to enhance the characteristics of this particular type of wine.
The products of this factory are recognized as the best by all the sommeliers. Glasses are known all over the world for their perfect quality and unique design. Today, the company owns three trademarks-Riedel, Spiegelau and Nachtmann. The current owner of the company, Georg Riedel, based on the traditions and experience of previous generations of the family, taking into account modern trends and innovations, ensures the success and prosperity of the company.
At the company's factory, you can see how this magnificent creation of the best masters is born. The factory still uses manual methods of blowing glass. The masters are able to show all the stages of turning a shapeless mass into a work of art. At the very end of the tour, there is a surprise, a multimedia show "Symphony".
