Pico Bonito National Park

Pico Bonito National Park is one of the most beautiful places in Honduras. It is located on the north coast, near the mountains, so the park offers magnificent panoramas with steep slopes and water surface.

There are two high mountains: Montein - 2,480 meters and Pico Bonito - 2,435 meters. You can climb each of them, having at least a little experience, to see the beauty of Pico Bonito National Park spread before the eyes. The path is difficult but very exciting. There are small rivers with a fast flow, waterfalls, both large and small, specially equipped places for recreation, and nature delighting with its pristine look.

Many wild animals in the park walk around not like in nurseries or zoos, but on their own because this is their territory. You can find tapirs, white-tailed deer, howlers, and even tigers. Therefore, when going for a walk, be extremely careful. And if you meet a white-faced monkey or anteater on your way, try not to disturb their usual way of life.

The area of ​​Pico Bonito National Park is huge. It occupies more than 1000 square kilometers. And to make it easier to navigate such a large area, the park was divided into two parts: Yoro and Atlantida.

A large number of walking routes have been developed for tourists. Some of them are quite short. They can be completed in an hour. Others are designed for a whole day or even a few days with overnight stays in a special small hotel located on the territory of the Pico Bonito National Park. All routes are marked both on maps and in guidebooks which can be taken at the tourist centre. It's important to remember that most of the routes don't intersect. So you won't be able to see everything in one session even if you choose the longest and busiest route. It is customary to return to Pico Bonito National Park to enjoy its beauty.
