The heritage, artistic and cultural life of an area can attract tourists and create better quality of life for those who live there.
An Italian student smashed a Greek sculpture at Milan’s Academy of Fine Arts of Brera after he hopped on its lap in order to capture that perfect selfie.
Every year on December 23, the Mexican state of Oaxaca presents the most impressive display of carved vegetables in the world.
Each tourist destination has its attraction. It can be the vast territories of national reserves or the lonely birch tree. Some travelers are not surprised by the carnival procession, while others are ready to fly to the ends of the world to see the holiday in a small village. No matter how different the idea of society about city attractions is, the city of Limón is proud of its Uvita Island.
Uvita Island is just three kilometers from the coast of Limón and is one of its main attractions. According to some sources, it was on this coast that the great Spanish navigator Christopher Columbus called Costa Rica this wonderful country in Central America, which means rich coast in Spanish. It happened in 1502 during his last voyage when he anchored his ship on the coast of Uvita Island for restorations after a long journey.
Since then, a small island in the Caribbean sea, with an area of only 800 square meters, remains uninhabited and covered with dense jungle. However, it`s hard to call these lands deserted as its shores have long been favored by local surfers. Recently it has become famous both outside the city and in the country. The Caribbean coast has always been considered an ideal place for surfing: its waters are always warm, and the best season is from January to April. There nobody is waiting around for waves, because fans of extreme sports have another task: to stand on their surfboards before the waves spin them in their dangerous dance.
Despite that many consider the Pacific coast to be the best place to surf, the shores of Uvita Island are never empty. Athletes, professionals, instructors of local surf schools, and just amateurs annually choose this place to challenge nature and get a long-awaited rush of adrenaline.
