A shaky, ramshackle wooden construction with a thatched roof looks like a pile of garbage throwing into the sea after a hurricane. This is the most popular and beloved Bar by the locals. It is located here for almost 20 years.
It seems that if more than two people enter there, the building goes to the sea bottom. But Pelican Bar is still on its place, the owner is joking with the guests and sips rum at one of the tables. Yes, there are tables.
All prejudices leave when you come there. Firstly, you feel incredible relief that the construction is still holding, and rather firmly. Secondly, look around. This is Jamaica. It is very picturesque and cozy here. It seems that someone made a garage sale inside and is waiting for buyers, lazily sprawling among all the junk. You can leave something in the bar as a souvenir. T-shirt, cap, or even an inscription carved on the table. It seems that reggae music is about to play. And outside the dolphins are!
Anyway, all the fears and concerns disappear after a glass of rum and a look to the vast Caribbean Sea. You can also eat here: shrimps, crabs, lobsters - all are the freshest. But you need to order in advance. While a cook prepares the meal, you can swim or sunbathe, or take rigging and catch a lunch by yourself! Wonderful!
The locals though advise to eat on the shore and come here just to see the color, admire, and drink rum. The journey begins when you board the boat to come to the bar. Although the Pelican is located just several kilometers away from the coast on the shoal, you should not go by yourself. It is better to use the services of a boatman. This is a separate pleasure only 20 minutes long.
