Joseph O’Neill Botanical Park
British Virgin Islands (U.K.) and surrounding
Nature Reserves, Safari Parks, Zoo
Nature Reserves, Safari Parks, Zoo

Tropical forests with their terrible humidity, plains, and hills, arid deserts with occasional shrubs – these are all areas of the Virgin Islands for few hours. Of course, it is better to explore each beautiful island of the archipelago separately, but if you do not have time, there is an express tour in the Joseph O’Neill Botanical Park.

The park is located on Tortola- the largest island. Entering the gate of the main entrance, decorated with huge tall royal palm trees, you get a desire to shake hands with Joseph Reynolds O’Neill, the person founding this botanical park and creating the entrance group project.

Amazingly, you get to wildlife. And fountains, stone sculptures, and beautiful lanterns seem to be a real fairy tale delusion. If you are tired of a long walk or want to see the unusual plants from another angle, you can sit on a nice bench.

The park is divided into zones, each one shows the flora and fauna of one island of the archipelago. Go through all of them, and you feel like visiting all the islands! The highlight of the park is a slight transition from one zone to another, you will not even notice it. It is done purposely to make the walk comfortable.
There are nearly no animals in the park. You will not find them on the islands as well. All the animals were exterminated during the settlement. But the park has a rich collection of plants. Wild ferns, blooming cacti, palm trees, and incredible orchids. The latter are located in a separate house. But it is better to call this construction “a palace”. There are keeping particularly rare species of this wonderful plant.

O’Neill Botanical Park is an amazing place. A fairy tale seems to come to life there. It is very fresh and colorful! And such several plants are very good for health! The air is great! Even if you want to visit all the islands of the archipelago, it is very good to come to the Botanical Garden.
