Located in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean between Tuvalu and Fiji, the Wallis and Futuna Islands’ group was firstly noticed by the European scientists from Britain and the Netherlands in the 17th century. After the years of struggling, the island was in possession of France.

The volcanic islands with a rich history are already a sight. Among the golden beaches, azure lagoons with coral reefs are located the volcanic lakes arousing fear and trembling. The best known of them is the perfectly round Lalolalo with cliff boards.

Just in a few kilometers from the capital, to the south of Futuna, is based the island of Alofi. All-inclusive hotels, hammocks on palm trees, deckchairs, ice cream cocktails – it is not about Alofi. The island is covered with haze, wild jungle, plantations, and pastures. But the tourists still want to visit it. There are the Snow White coral sands, crystal-clear waters of the lagoon, and shady boards, where you can hide from the scorching tropical sun.

Afori area is about 32 square kilometers. The flat country of the boards is turning to the highlands in the center.  The highest point of Kolofau is about 400 meters.

In the jungle live rare animals, huge butterflies, and tropical birds, which bright color is gleaming among the green. On one of the parts of the island are based the plantations of residents. There, they grow fruits and vegetables. The tobacco is also very popular among islanders. Close to the gardens are located several pastures. From afar, you can watch the lamb, goats, and pigs, pretending to be a hero of a pastoral novel.

This island is unique not only for beaches but a wide line of reefs around. They are considered one of the oldest and most picturesque ones in the entire Pacific Ocean. Even the experienced divers like the reefs because of the multiple underwater caves and caverns. The unpredictable strong stream turns an underwater walk to the exciting trip with many surprises. If you are a lucky person, you can see the schools of blue whales and whale sharks.
