Sky Tower

The television tower Sky Tower is one of the most recognizable features in Auckland. The Sky Tower can be seen from anywhere in the city because it is the tallest building not only in Auckland but in whole New Zealand.

The height of the Sky Tower is 328 meters. An impressive size! And this is even though Oakland is a city where there are often storms and strong gusts of wind. The creators of Sky Tower took into account everything so that their creation would stand for as long as possible without any damage. Before construction, a model was made that simulated various weather events: wind gusts reaching 200 km/h, storm situations, and even earthquakes of eight points.

Of course, the Sky Tower is a great viewing platform! There are even three of them. On each of them, you can see a beautiful panorama of the city. On a clear day, the distance to view the city is more than 80 kilometers. So you can see not only the city from the tower but also the suburbs and natural areas surrounding Auckland.

Unlike many medieval towers, it is very easy to climb to the “top” of the Sky Tower. Three spacious glass elevators can lift 225 passengers at a time. The elevators run strictly according to the schedule: the interval between departures is 15 minutes. And the speed of their ascent is incredible: 18 km/h. This means that the viewing platform can be reached in less than a minute.

Generally, the Sky Tower is a city within a city. There are 11 restaurants and more than a dozen bars. Each restaurant is themed and has its own rules, menu, and atmosphere. There are also two large hotels located in the tower. And there’s even a casino. So, you can come to Auckland, live in the Sky Tower, and get everything you need in one place at once.
