Unusual places

Conquerors of mountains from all over the world come to Nepal, the motherland of the highest hills of the world. However, that true pearl of Asia is famous not only for its snow-white mountains and picturesque valleys. Even if the word «cats» means only sweet and tender creatures for you, and you think that oxygen is just an element of the periodic table, there you will always find places that can impress you with their beauty that can be seen only in this fascinating country. To see one of the main attractions, you do not need to climb towards the wind. In reality, you will need to do the opposite: you will have to go down by a colorful staircase and go into a three-meter spacious entrance.

Gupteshwar Mahadev cave, which means «Great God» in Sanskrit, is located in the vicinity of Pokhara and is considered the longest cave in Nepal. The fact that only a small part of it was explored by speleologists gives hope that the cave will get an honorary title of the longest cave in the world. The length of the discovered land is about 3 kilometers. Inside, there is a fabulous naturally beautiful underground lake.

Although the ancient karst cave has been known for more than 600 years, it was opened for visiting only in the 1980s. In 1991, it was equipped with artificial lighting. In its first hall, there is a local temple of Shiva famous for its huge stalagmite. Moreover, there is another revered Nepal statue of a Hindu deity of Nandi – a sacred bull and a devoted servant of the god Shiva. The second hall is more spacious: it is around 150 meters long. It has many rock formations that are several hundreds of years old. Dim rays of light penetrate inside through one of the gaps formed in a rock of the ancient cave. As a result, there comes a fantastic view of another main attraction of the country – fascinating Devi’s Fall.
