The Chinese city of Wuhan has never been very popular among tourists, although there are as many attractions as in any other city. It is a birthplace of beautiful poems, paintings, and magnificent architectural monuments. Luxury landscape parks and city gardens allow you to feel the atmosphere of the great empire. You can also get acquainted with the historical past of the amazing country thanks to the extensive collections of numerous museums and galleries. According to written sources, this city has long been a center of arts and sciences. So this is definitely the right place for a modern science and technology museum.
The Wuhan Museum of Science and Technology with an area of 30 thousand square meters was opened on the territory of a former passenger transport port near another popular city attraction – the Customs Museum. The architects and designers of this fantastic project tried to preserve the original design of the former port as much as possible. They gave the museum the shape of a boat which is closely intertwined with its main concept – to show visitors how to use scientific developments to protect the environment.
Its territory is divided into 8 huge halls each of which is dedicated to a separate theme, as well as an open exhibition area located on the roof of the building. The museum collection includes more than 600 exhibits many of which are unique. Besides, the museum itself is considered to be the largest science museum in China.
In the spacious lobby, visitors are greeted by the «Tree of Knowledge» – a giant display about 20 meters high, among the branches of which you can see 2 thousand answers to questions about scientific exhibits. Each guest can download a special app to their phone and interact with the tree in their own way.
In the Math Room, you can ride a bicycle with square wheels. Are you confused? Just read the exact mathematical principles that explain how this is possible. The Hall of Life is dedicated to the origin and evolution, diversity of flora and fauna, as well as the capabilities of the human body and the development of modern biotechnologies. In the Hall of the Universe, you can see a model of the solar system in motion or you can become an observer of space in real-time. All this became possible after connecting the museum to the world's first international telescope located in China.
