How often can you see one city from another? The Shenzhen embankment offers a great view over Hong Kong, but this is not the only attraction of this place.

On the city embankment, there is the smallest ecological park called Mangrove Eco-park (Shenzhen Mangrove Nature Reserve). On the one hand, there are skyscrapers, roaring cars and flashing bright adverts. On the other hand, there are mangrove forests. This is China!

The park has an area of 368 hectares. Local officials questioned themselves: «Why not to diversify the urban landscape with tangled mangroves?». So they decided to build an ecological park. That happened in 2000.

In addition to the mist-covered and mysterious trees, there are a huge number of birds and animals. You feel like you are in a real forest. 189 species of birds stay there permanently. Moreover, more than 100 thousand birds come there for the winter period.

Walking along the embankment must be very noisy. This number of birds will not allow you to stay in silence, relax alone with your thoughts, but it perfectly drowns out the roar of the «indefatigable» city. The park flora is very diverse. There you will find not only mangroves. Despite its small size, the park is home to about 55 species of other plants.

Mini eco-park is a great place not only for animals but also for people. Now there are more locals: Chinese people run along the embankment, do gymnastics in the morning, walk. But as time passes by, the number of foreigners increases. The smallest ecological park gradually becomes famous, attracting more and more people who want to admire the mysterious thickets of that big city.

You can follow the example of other tourists and rent a pair of bicycles. There are seats for one, two, or even four people. So, you can go around the entire park together with your friends.
