Timan Ridge

Northern Timan is the most ancient Devonian mountains preserved on Earth. The Timan ridge occupies the territory from the Barents Sea to the mountain of Polyudov Kamen and Vychegda River. 

The length of this mountain range amazes you so much! It is almost 950 kilometers of incredibly beautiful landscapes and an abundance of treasures. In North Timan are located diamonds, agates, and phosphorites, there are deposits of heavy oil and titanium. It is not so easy for people to go there, so natural resources are still keeping in their place. The treasury located in the Arctic inspires with its majestic beauty.

In Timan Ridge, there are several places, which are especially interesting and picturesque. Guests of Arctic regularly come here, they want to look at its diverse and unusual world.

A canyon “Big Gate” is a natural monument, covering an area of more than 200 hectares. Previously, this was the coast of the Devonian Sea. But over time, it has dried. Only graceful coastal cliffs of 90 meters high were left. They are rich in deposits of semi-precious metals. Also, the Belaya River flows through the canyon. It is so clean that you can see all its inhabitants in any place of it: salmon, char, grayling, and other good fish.

On one of the rocky shores of the Belaya River is located the uncreated Stone City. It was made by rain streams and winds. Large and small, plain and colored unusual figures let you imagine a lot. Someone sees ancient arches and statues, someone – destroyed buildings, giant chess pieces, or dinosaurs monuments. Surprisingly, in the Stone Town, all the “paths” are covered with Snow White soft sand, instead of swamps and moss. It looks like someone lives it the city and cares a lot for the local beauty.
