A natural sight Pym-Va-Shor is a unique place located in the tundra close to two streams: Pym-Va-Shor with warm water and Kamenny (Dor-Shor).
Here, at the end of the world, are hiding incredibly beautiful thermal springs. Some of them flow from the cracks of huge rocks, others – come straight up from underneath. It looks impressive. In total, there are eight warm and five cold springs in the natural complex Pym-Va-Shor. The water does not freeze even in winter during the frosts. This is suitable for unique plants growing only there. For example, mosses use this water. They cover rocks and make them look like fairy-tale giants. It is beautiful at any time of the year: nature made a good job, creating such unusual landscapes.
This place is not only beautiful but also healing. Nenets and Komi nationalities have always considered the water to be curative. Shamans sent people here for treatment. Men needed to bathe in springs and get water for drinking. This helped them to recover from lung, eye, and skin diseases.
Several decades ago, geologists studying the Arctic territory made a swimming pool in this place. They wanted to gentrify it for themselves and tourists. But nature took its course. The pool was almost destroyed during a strong outflow from the springs. Now the manmade construction looks like a natural one, suiting the beautiful landscape.
This place is unique for its waters. These are the only hot springs that are located beyond the Arctic Circle. Today, the temperature of the water on the surface is below 23 degrees. And 10 years ago, it was reaching 40 degrees.
