Known throughout Mauritania, the Galerie Zeinart is hardly a gallery in the usual sense of the word. There are no large exhibition halls. Noisy expositions of famous artists are also mostly rarity than the rule. However, it is a real oasis of creative life in the city, a place where everyone can feel oneself to be an artist or a craftsman, touch the beautiful or buy a work of art.
The creators and curators of this gallery are three local artists. Initially, this was their creative community, where they invited close friends and some fans to show their work. But since the city was sorely lacking a place where everyone could present their work, the artists decided to convert their workshop into a public cultural space to everyone.
The gallery has only one hall, but due to the non-standard approach and the formation of the exposition, it is interesting to look at the exhibits that change quite often. After all, jewelry is bought, paintings are purchased by patrons or larger museums, new authors appear who want to show their work.
Galerie Zeinart values its guests very much. Usually, all three curators are willing to talk about how the gallery was created, who is represented in it, and how the selection of exhibits takes place. It turns out that coming to the gallery, each guest receives a small, but the very exciting tour as a gift.
Besides, lectures, master classes, and themed holidays are regularly held in the courtyard of the gallery. And during the opening days of the new exhibition, almost a mini-festival is organized here, which everyone can participate in: you can join both at the stage of preparing the event, and directly during it.
As the locals say, Galerie Zeinart is always fun and heartfelt. This simple and open approach to creativity is what characterizes the entire culture of Mauritania.
